FORT EDWARD, N.Y. -- A Washington County man accused of killing three people made his final appearance in court before his trial begins next week.
A pre-trial hearing in the Matthew Slocum case was held Thursday at the Washington County Courthouse, where both prosecution and defense attorneys supplied witness lists.
Washington County District Attorney Kevin Kortright said he expects between 30 and 40 witnesses to be called to testify.
Also at the hearing, public defender Michael Mercure conceded the notion that all three victims were dead inside the home before it was set on fire.
The 24-year-old Slocum is accused of shooting and killing his mother, stepfather, and stepbrother at their White Creek home before burning it down in July 2011.
Jury selection begins Monday morning.
