SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The mother of a three-month-old baby that was returned to an Albany church under mysterious circumstances is due in court today to answer a child endangerment charge. The baby girl was brought to Blessed Sacrament Church by a man who never gave his name.
A judge had ordered the child's mother, Janel Davis, to surrender the 11-week-old baby to Schenectady County Child Protective Services, but the baby was never turned over.
Police haven't said how the child disappeared or how the man who handed her over to the church obtained custody.
