LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. – Patrick McGuire's love affair with the New York Giants began at an early age.

"I've been a lifelong fan since I played pee wee football,” said McGuire, who lives in Lake George. “Unfortunately my team name was the Jets, but I changed into blue real quick."

Every Sunday during football season, the Glens Falls native and his girlfriend, Mary, go through the same routine, all designed to get them ready for kickoff.

"I’ve got to wash the same uniform that we wear every Sunday whether it's dirty or not,” McGuire said. “Once the game comes on, we shut the phones off and lock the door and nobody messes with us."

Despite its abundance of Giants memorabilia, few would say McGuire's living room sets him apart as a football fan, but once you take a look outside his home it's a different story. Right in the middle of his front yard is an 80 by 40 foot football field.

"I just picked it up as a hobby and it keeps growing and growing,” McGuire said. “Thank God for my landlord, he thinks I'm crazy but he lets me keep it."

McGuire started working on the field shortly after the Giants 2007 Super Bowl victory. It comes complete with two goal posts, lines on the field, and the Giants emblem.

In addition to the years he spent building it, you'd probably assume the field has cost McGuire a pretty penny. Somewhat surprisingly, he says it's been very affordable.

"I've had most of the material -- like I said, I'm a pack rabbit -- given to me,” McGuire said. “I think I've probably got $150 in the whole thing."

Located on Route 149, just a short distance from the Lake George outlets, McGuire's shrine to "Big Blue" is seen by countless motorists each summer. He says many stop to take pictures or sound off a friendly honk of the horn.

As his favorite team squared off in their second Super Bowl appearance in four years, the attention received by McGuire's project has only grown, giving him and fellow Giants fans one more thing to bond over.

"Knowing that other people are enjoying this, that's what really makes it worthwhile," McGuire’s girlfriend Mary Bradley said.

"If I'm out here, I wave to them and I chuckle and I laugh. It's a very good feeling, it really is, people love it," McGuire said.
