SALEM, N.Y. -- Family and friends of the victims of the fatal house explosion in Salem are asking the community to remember their loved ones.
Family members of Tammy Palmer, 41, and Clarissa Porlier, 19, were at the scene Friday, trying to find their loved ones belongings. Palmer's family says she was a devoted a mother. Porlier's says she was an aspiring baker.
"She was the ultimate mother. Even in the times before she had anything at all. Even when they were homeless. She set up a shelter, kept all her kids right with her, over at Summit Lake, and stayed there for a couple weeks. She would do nothing at all, if her kids weren't first," said Butch Hurlburt, Palmer's uncle.
"Her chefs, when the kids would come around and they'd ask, 'How am I doing?' They'd say, 'Look at Claire's! Claire's is perfect!' So she was just amazing," said Linda Porlier, Clarissa Porlier's mother.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fatal blast.
