One day after police say he set fire to a North Country home after fatally shooting three people inside, Matthew Slocum, 23, appeared in a Washington County Courtroom. Our Matt Hunter has been following this story and joined us from Cambridge with the latest.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man police say set a fire in White Creek and started a multistate Amber Alert pleaded not guilty in court.

Matthew Slocum, 23, was arraigned on first and second degree arson charges and three counts of second degree murder.

Prosecutors say Slocum shot three people inside the house before burning it down with gasoline. The three people killed were Slocum's mother, stepfather and stepbrother.

Outside the courtroom, dozens of the victims' family members waited to catch a glimpse of the man they believe destroyed their family.

Slocum also led police on a multi-state chase, triggering an Amber Alert Wednesday after police say he kidnapped his girlfriend Loretta Colegrove, 25, and their four-month-old son, Raymond. They were located in New Hampshire.

Slocum gave himself up to police and was arraigned on a fugitive of justice charge in New Hampshire.
