As the investigation into the failed bombing in New York City continues, the Pakistani Taliban releases a video claiming responsibility. Dean Meminger has more from New York City.

NEW YORK CITY -- The investigation into an attempted bombing in Times Square continues. A Pakistani Taliban group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says they've found no evidence to support that claim.

He says they're following leads to determine who is behind the failed attack.

The vehicle identification number had been taken off the Nissan Pathfinder and the license plate on the back of the SUV is registered to a different vehicle.

Police say that vehicle is in a repair shop in Connecticut, and they've identified the person the Pathfinder is registered to.

Police say the SUV contained several propane tanks, gasoline, firecrackers, wires and timing devices.

"Clearly it was the intent of whoever did this to cause mayhem and create casualties. We're doing an in-depth analysis now of the material that was used, the material that was in gun box. We'll determine what that was. But it was, uh - I think it's just a sober reminder that New York is clearly a target of people who want to come here and do us harm,” said Raymond Kelly, New York City Police Commissioner.

Police also broke into a gun locker in the back of the SUV. They say it contained eight bags of an unknown substance and they're working with the EPA to identify it.
