The case of Elizabeth Smart gives hope to a Capital Region family. Suzanne Lyall of Ballston Spa has been missing for five years now, having mysteriously disappeared from a UAlbany parking lot. On Wednesday night, her parents held a news conference.

Doug and Mary Lyall said they are happy and excited for the Smart family. They said this proves miracles are possible.

Doug and Mary Lyall founded the Center for Hope as a way of coping with the loss of their 20-year-old daughter, Suzanne. The center provides families of missing persons with referrals, support and guidance. The Lyalls said they never lose hope that Suzanne will return home safely one day.

Doug said, "For good or for bad, I guess this renews our hope that she's out there safe. We're extremely happy for that family."

Mary added, "When people make those calls, you never know what's going to happen. There's always going to be somebody out there who sees something. Do you think I should call? Yes, you should."

The Lyalls said just as it took just one phone call to return Elizabeth Smart to her family, they said with public awareness of Suzanne's disappearance, anything is possible.
