HUDSON, N.Y. -- One hundred fifty cats are now homeless due to a mattress fire on Warren Street Tuesday night.

The fire caused extensive water damage to three floors of the cat rescue group Animal Kind.

Dozens of volunteers had to be brought in to help round up the free roaming cats.

A spokesperson for the group is asking for more volunteers to take in these homeless animals.

Katrine Hecker, a spokesperson for Animal Kind, said, "We need desperately foster homes for cats since we don't have a big enough facility to transport cats right now, so we have to basically spread them all over the place. We would love to have some farms since we have some feral cats who need relocation and what we also need very desperate is donations."
