The RPI women’s lacrosse team is trying to win the Liberty League Championship and with it a berth to the D-III NCAA tournament. The Engineers take on William Smith.
First half, Lydia Wolter on the free position opportunity. That put RPI on top 7-0.
Other end the Herons with a point blank shot, but defense Player of the Year Allie Arnal, not going to let that one in. She had 13 saves in this one.
Still in the first Meg Colitz to Rachel Scholfield, fakes high goes low, RPI up 9-1.
Then with less than a minute to go in the half. The Engineers with one more chance to extend their lead. Liz Powell scores and RPI led 11-2 at the break.
Second half more of the same, Marissa Page takes it to the cage. Would have had the penalty coming up but she doesn't need it. RPI wins the Liberty League championship. 16-7 was the final and the Engineers are off to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997.
