DELMAR, N.Y. -- This week we salute Liz Vazquetelles, 11 of Delmar. Liz helped to motivate and encourage a friend.

Recently, a friend with special needs was participating in a one-mile race and needed a partner. Liz helped the friend, running with him and taking his hand when he was struggling to continue. She waited when he needed to rest and encouraged him right up to the finish line where they crossed the line hand in hand.

Her caring and encouragement allowed her friend to fulfill his goal of completing the race.
