COHOES, N.Y. -- The Oscars always makes waves throughout the movie world and this year, the ripple effects were felt right here in the Capital Region.
Back in December, we introduced you to the Aquatic Development Group. The Cohoes based company builds wave makers and certainly made a splash at the 85th Academy Awards. They supplied the large wave pools used to bring high-seas adventure to life in the Oscar-winning epic "Life of Pi."
The film won four awards, including ones for best cinematography and visual effects.
Even though they didn't get a golden statue of their own, the folks at ADG still felt a rising tide of emotions on Oscar night.
"Pretty exciting! 'Cause, you know, we were a pretty small part of it, but pretty exciting when you're talking about the Oscars and all the other movies that are there and a movie such as that, I don't know if you've seen it, but it's a pretty amazing film set and just to see it, when you see the water moving around, that you did that, it's pretty unique," said Ken Ellis, President of Aquatic Development Group.
This is definitely uncharted waters for the company. So far, they've made pools for four movies, but this was the first to win an Oscar. Director Ang Lee also gave them a shout out when he won for Best Director.
