After the holidays, hotels have hangovers too and the cure is lower rates for all. Twenty-four Manhattan hotels are banding together to offer affordable rates in early January, during an off-time referred to as the "holiday hangover" period.

"New York is one of those markets when it's always busy but January is the one time when actually things are slower," says Kivanc Ozdemir, the director of sales and marketing for Out NYC.

There are three tiers of pricing — $100, $200 and $250 per night — reflecting rates that are deeply discounted. Thirteen hotels fall into the $100 category, including the Out NYC on West 42nd, that is a quarter of what it costs in high season.

"With the rate you get complimentary wireless Internet access. We have very unique public spaces. You get complimentary access to the spa as well," says Ozdemir.

Two Apple Core hotels also made the $100 list — the New York Manhattan Hotel known as "nyma" and the Hotel @ Times Square. You can also squeeze into the compact Pod hotels at 39th and 51st Streets for a C-note.

If your budget can creep up to the $200 level, there are nine hotels that fit the bill including the Maritime in Chelsea.

At the $250 tier, four options include both of the city's Gansevoorts, Park Avenue and the Meatpacking District, and the boutique-style Hyatt 48 Lex.

Mention "Hotel Week" when calling the hotels directly or booking through the hotel’s website. Availability is limited.
