From movie stars to pro athletes, it seems every celebrity is promoting a product with their name on and it’s not just perfume or clothes any more. Now celebrities are marketing pet products. Our Lisa Chelenza takes a look at what they have to offer our pets.

Are you the pet parent of a pampered pooch who is bored with common doggie duds and looking to add a bit of rock to Rover’s wardrobe? Then look no further! New this summer, Poison lead singer, reality show star and doggie daddy Bret Michaels has added canine clothing designer to his list of gigs.

The “Pets Rock” collection, available exclusively at PetSmart, has an edgy look with its rose and thorn, skulls or flames motifs. You can outfit your dog in concert style t-shirts or Michael’s style bandannas with various designs to bring out the rock star in your pet, or at least help them look like one!

Looking for something more traditional? Just across the aisle is “Martha Stewart Pets,” also exclusively at PetSmart. These products from long time pet lover and home style queen Stewart stick to a more traditional color scheme, offer more practical, as well as functional, products and are for both dogs and cats. From grooming supplies to storage ideas, everything has the Martha seal of approval.

While these products are fun, they are marketed to us for our pets and it is up to us, as pet parents, to make the right choice for our animal companions. A celebrity endorsement does not guarantee quality and your pets really don't care what color their bowl is as long as it is clean and their water is fresh.

Remember when you are choosing gear of any type for your pet, choose quality well made products, select the correct size and save your receipt so you can return items that don’t fit or just are not up to your standards.
