ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York State Police presented awards for bravery at the 36th annual memorial and awards ceremony in Albany.
About three dozen troopers, investigators and civilian employees were honored Thursday. Troopers and their families from across the state were in attendance for the ceremony.
The ceremony honored those killed in the line of duty and also recognized those who go above and beyond their expectations in the community.
The State Police Superintendent recognized everything from community service initiatives to crimes solved in difficult or dangerous circumstances.
"Every day, I go to work to do my job. Nothing spectacular, nothing extraordinary. That's what I do, get up every morning, go to work, come home from work, hopefully every day," honoree Gerald Segur said.
"It's a tremendous honor and I feel very privileged to be here and it's nice to know that you did something that reflects well on our job," honoree Sgt. James Conway said.
Troopers who responded to the Occupy Albany protests were also honored at Thursday's ceremony.
