ALBANY, N.Y. -- Habitat for Humanity is celebrating National Women's Build Week, by encouraging woman to volunteer in their communities. Here in Albany, a group of women including mothers and daughters came out Saturday to participate in the building of this home on Alexander Street downtown.
They're learning how to build dry walls, and the outside structure of this house. Some of the women we spoke with were using the day as a way to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Karen Green, a volunteer said, “"Today is actually a little bit of a special day, they’re doing a mother daughter thing, my mother isn’t in the area so invited my boyfriend’s mother to join me."
"I am here because Ali asked me and I am so honored to be here for the mother-daughter build."
The Capital District Habitat for Humanity has already built 53 homes in the area. They said they expect 10,000 women to volunteer for national women's build week.
