UNITED STATES -- Postal Carriers around the Capital Region are picking up more than just letters and packages this weekend.

The "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive is celebrating it's 20th year nation-wide. Folks can drop off non-perishable food items at their local post office or at drop off locations like the shop rite in Albany.

Michael Curren, who is a postal carrier in Troy for over 25 years, said it's a great cause.

Curren said, “All the food that's collected goes directly back to the local pantries in that community. So you're helping your neighbors out. We're glad to be the delivery service to pick it up, and get it right to the pantries."

Last year, the one day drive collected over 70 million pounds of food nationwide.
