ALBANY, N.Y. -- Plans for President Obama's visit to the Capital Region on Tuesday have changed. He was originally scheduled to visit GlobalFoundries in Malta, but instead, will be in Albany.

The White House confirms Obama is coming to the College of Nansocale and engineering Tuesday.

They say the trip to Malta was switched due to logistical reasons, but GlobalFoundries officials are expected to be in Albany Tuesday to participate in the president's trip.

Albany residents say they are excited about the change in venue.

"I think it's great that he's coming to the nanotech school. I graduated from UAlbany and we have a great program there. It's bringing a lot of business to the area, so I think it's good that we're getting a lot of attention," said Jenna Lehr.

"I think it brings attention to the area and hopefully some of the things that they're trying to develop to bring more businesses and research into the area. So I think it can only be good things," Laura Wallingford said.

Others say it's all the same. The president is still coming and still speaking at a place where technology is changing the way we live.
