Rensselaer fire considered suspicious

A fire in Rensselaer damaged three buildings and left several people homeless. It happened on Broadway Wednesday night. Investigators were back at the scene Thursday, trying to learn more about what happened. Erin Vannella has more.

RENSSELAER, N.Y. -- An investigation is underway into a suspicious fire that destroyed three buildings, including two apartment houses, in Rensselaer.

The fire started around 7 p.m. Wednesday on the 900 block of Broadway. Officials confirm the fire started in the back of 901 and spread to 902 and 903 Broadway.

More than 100 firefighters from seven fire companies responded to the scene.

No one was injured, but several residents were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting some of the victims.

Officials said the fire is considered suspicious.
