MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. -- Another sign that spring is here. Kayakers making waves in Mechanicville Sunday.

More than two dozen racers competed in the Tenandeho White Water Derby. It's the 39th annual edition of the row to the finish line that spreads over four and a half miles on the Tenandeho Creek.

Organizers said it's a tried and true tradition that brings the Mechanicville community together. Now it's called the White Water Derby. But as you can see, the waters- calmer than usual, that, due to the mild winter. Making for a fun, but fatiguing day for competitors.

Patti Morris, of the Tenandeho Canoe Association said, “We've picked up a lot of racers again this year. This year the water's very low, some year's it's very high, some year's it's just perfect and this year it's low so they're gonna be working hard."

In addition to the race, there was also a raffle and tons of delicious food, so plenty of winners on Sunday.
