ALBANY, N.Y. -- Lawmakers came together in the Capital Region to work on local government budgets.
The "Building Better Budgets" forum was hosted by the Albany Law School. The event was held to bring officials from local, state and federal governments into one room for a budget discussion.
Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen Jimino says it's important for officials from different levels of government to get together and talk about the pressures on their budgets.
"So the more that we can have the dialogue and talk about the impacts of state decisions on budgets, the more realistic I think will be our expectation that we can expect for some change at the state level to give relief to our taxpayers," said Jimino.
The symposium was free to the public and was presented by the Albany Government Law Review.
