ALBANY, N.Y. -- Firefighters battled a fire at a house on Watervliet Avenue in Albany.

Crews arrived to the scene just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday. They say the flames were located in the back of the building, which crews were able to put out within a half hour.

Officials say the building is unoccupied at this time, with repairs being done inside.

The fire also spread to the building next door.

"It did communicate to the exposure next door, which is 71 Watervliet Avenue. It go up in the rockwall on u,s so we had to trigger the second alarm to get into the building and put that fire out. It went very well. There were no injuries," said Albany Fire Chief Robert Forezzi.

Two people in the building next door were able to get out safely on their own.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There is no word yet on the extent of damage.
