UAlbany women take on Texas A and M in NCAA tournament

For the first time in school history, the UAlbany women's basketball team is getting ready for the NCAA tournament. They'll face defending champs Texas A and M Saturday night. Our Joe Calderone has been scoping out the competition, and reports from Texas on what it means to be an A & M Aggie.

TEXAS -- The UAlbany women are in Texas for their first ever NCAA tournament appearance.

The Danes take on national champions Texas A & M tonight at 6:30 p.m. in College Station. They secured their place in the tournament when they won the America East tournament last weekend.

The team left Albany Thursday, and we caught up with them in Texas.

Ebone Henry, UAlbany junior Guard said, “It’s our first time here, being on a big state its def a big moment."

Julie Forster, UAlbany junior Forward said, “You nervous at first but once the first whistle it’s something you’ve been playing all your life."

Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, UAlbany Head Coach said, “We really just talk about the only play five players, the balls the same, the basketball, the floors, you just have to get through those first five minutes."

You have to get through those first five minute of nerves.
