ALBANY-- Rumors are swirling that Cuomo may tap Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings as his Lieutenant Governor whenever he officially announces his campaign.

Albany County Legislative Chairman Dan McCoy even fanned the flames on the set of our very own Capital Tonight, saying he's heard the rumors too.

We asked Albany residents how they would feel about Jennings' taking the leap from City Hall to the State Capitol.

"He certainly has executive experience, he has run things in the city," said Albany resident Jason Lasusa. "You know he certainly has his share of critics, but I could think of worse people."

"I would like him as a running mate, but then we would lose him as a mayor and he's doing a wonderful job here as a mayor of Albany, so it's an iffy situation," said Delmar resident Cindy Akin.

Though they would campaign together, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor cannot run on the same ticket. So, Cuomo and Jennings would have to be elected separately for either to take office.

Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rick Lazio, revealed his running mate Thursday, naming Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards for the spot.
